Tech trance, también conocido como techno-trance o techno/trance, es un subgénero dentro de la EDM que utiliza elementos techno y trance como sugiere el nombre. Tech trance estuvo iniciado por, entre otros, Oliver Lieb hacia 1994. Otros ejemplos tempranos de tech trance son Humate, Chris Cowie y Marmion. Durante varios años permaneció a la sombra del Hard trance, una fusión del tech trance con el Hard Acid trance.
Markus Schulz es un DJ y productor alemán afincado actualmente en Miami, Florida, EE.UU.. Conocido internacionalmente por su programa de radio semanal titulado "Global DJ Broadcast" difundido en la actualidad por la emisora de radio online "Digitally Imported".
Markus Schulz nació en Alemania, y fue allí en 4º curso donde le vino la pasión por la música cuando visitó una emisora de radio. Esta pasión por la música fue creciendo con los años, años en los que ha viajado mucho, desde Alemania a Boston, de Boston a Arizona, de Arizona a Londres y finalmente de Londres a Miami, donde reside actualmente.
