El termino K-pop surge por el movimiento de la cultura joven y (K) de Korean (Coreano en ingles); en resumen es la abreviatura de Korean Pop o Pop Coreano. Es un género de música que tuvo sus orígenes especialmente en Corea del Sur ya que prácticamente no hay una industria de música popular en Corea del Norte. Ya que Corea del Norte tiene un estricto régimen de gobierno comunista, por lo que las relaciones con Corea del Sur son muy pocas, así que cuando se habla de cantantes coreanos se da como sobrentendido que se habla de Corea del Sur.
BEAST (Boys of East Standing Tall) comúnmente estilizado a B2ST (Boys 2 Search The Top) es una boyband de Corea del Sur compuesta por seis miembros de la productora Cube Entertainment.
Debutaron el 16 de octubre de 2009 con su primer mini-album Beast Is the B2ST, del que hasta la fecha se han vendido más de 40.000 copias. El día 16 debutaron en directo en el programa "Music Bank" de la cadena KBS con su primer single Bad Girl. El grupo adquirió popularidad rápidamente y fueron elegidos el 2 de Diciembre como los Rookies del Mes por el Ministerio de Cultura, Deportes y Turismo de Corea. Más tarde fue anunciado que Universal Records apoyará a Cube Entertainment para el lanzamiento internacional de los albums de B2ST y 4Minute.
