Del latín gothicus, gótico es un adjetivo que hace referencia a aquello perteneciente o relativo a los godos. Este era un pueblo que se encontraba tras la frontera oriental del Imperio Romano y que formaba parte del grupo que los romanos denominaban como bárbaros. Este vocablo fue acuñado por el tratadista de Florencia, Vasari, quien en una biografía sobre pintores toscanos incluyó un apartado sobre el arte de la Edad Media.
Diary Of Dreams es una banda darkwave alemana, cuya alma es Adrian Hates (ex-guitarrista en Garden Of Delight).
La banda se formó a finales de los años ochenta, tomando el nombre de una de las primeras composiciones de Adrian con la guitarra clásica, Tagebuch Der Träume. Ninguna versión, se trataba de una pieza completamente propia compuesta por el mismo. “Lo escribí solamente para guitarra clásica, sin canto ni nada” asegura el propio Adrian, esta pieza fue la elegida de otras tantas para dar luego nombre a su futuro proyecto. ¿Quién hubiera creído que Diary Of Dreams se creó originalmente como un proyecto con énfasis en las guitarras sin la utilización del sintetizador? No es posible imaginárselo por la ausencia de esta desde el álbum debut. ¿Y quién hubiera creído que en el principio era la guitarra clásica, a la que se dedicaba Adrian Hates?
