Se conoce como música electrónica a aquella que se genera a través de determinados aparatos electrónicos como el sintetizador o el sampler y que puede ser concebida en su totalidad a partir de los sonidos y melodías que producen estas máquinas... o bien a una canción ya creada y terminada por un artista, a la cual se la modifica a través y gracias a la aplicación de esta tecnología, dando lugar a una nueva creación artística que conservará en su base el sonido y la letra de la original.
Moby es un compositor de música electrónica, nacido el 11 de Septiembre de 1965 en Harlem, New York. Luego se mudó a Darien, Conneticut. Su nombre real es Richard Melville Hall y el seudónimo viene de un apodo familiar, que viene de la novela Moby Dick de Herman Melville, su tatara-tatara-tio abuelo.
A Moby se le conoce mejor por singles como "Go", "Porcelain", "South Side" con Gwen Stefani, "We Are All Made of Stars", "Extreme Ways" y "Lift Me Up". También ha publicado música bajo los nombres Voodoo Child, Barracuda, UHF, The Brotherhood, DJ Cake, Lopez, y Brainstorm/Mindstorm.
