La música alternativa es uno de los estilos musicales más populares a nivel internacional. El rock alternativo fue producido como una alternativa a la música a finales de los 80 y principio de los 90. Siendo en esta última década donde alcanza gran aceptación por parte de los amantes de la música, y esto se debió en gran medida a la colaboración de bandas punk de los años 70 y 80. La baja en popularidad del rock alternativo fue debido a la sobresaturación del mercado causado por los ejecutivos de compañías disqueras quienes solo pensaban en ganar plata.
Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong (Londres, 25 de diciembre de 1971) es una cantante de música pop inglesa que actúa bajo el nombre de Dido. Su nombre viene de un personaje de la mitología romana. Se educó en los colegios Thornhill Primary, City of London Girls', y Westminster.
Dido es de ascendencia francesa. Su madre, Claire, es una poetisa francesa y su padre, William, era un escritor. A los seis años de edad, asistía a la escuela de música Guildhall School of Music en Londres, Inglaterra. A los diez años de edad ya tocaba piano y violín. Tiene un hermano, Rollo Armstrong, con quien antes ha colaborado. Él es del grupo Faithless, y tiene un #6 single en 2002 cuando colaboro con Faithless "One Step Too Far".
